Are you a fit, motivated, and safety-conscious outdoor operations professional looking for stable work within local government? We are currently recruiting for Infrastructure Crew Members to support municipal civil maintenance programs across local councils in Melbourne's South-East.
In this role, you will work within a dedicated civil team to construct, repair, and maintain vital community infrastructure assets, ensuring public assets and roadside easements remain safe and functional for the municipality.
Civil Infrastructure Maintenance: Undertake a variety of physical labouring tasks associated with civil construction, road maintenance, asset repairs, and drainage programs.
Plant & Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain various plant, commercial equipment, and vehicles over 4.5 tonnes (Trucks) in accordance with licence requirements.
Safety & Risk Management (OH&S): Maintain a safe work site, conduct routine plant pre-starts, follow safe work procedures, and immediately report hazards, near misses, or incidents.
Community & Public Liaison: Provide general information, support, and courteous guidance to local residents, visitors, and contractors while out in the field.
Teamwork & Guidance: Work collaboratively within a specialized crew, providing trade assistance, on-the-job guidance, or peer training to team members when required.
Qualifications & Tickets:
Valid Construction Induction White Card.
Valid Victorian Traffic Control and Traffic Management certifications.
Current Australian Truck Driver’s Licence MR or HR highly regarded/required for specific plant operations over 4.5t GVM [excavator etc.].
Relevant Trade Certificate, or equivalent practical industry experience gained through on-the-job civil training.
Experience & Skills:
Proven experience in civil construction, road infrastructure maintenance techniques, and plant/machinery operations.
Personal judgement to select the right techniques, methods, tools, and processes for specialized field tasks.
Solid oral and written communication skills to interpret instructions, complete daily works activity logs, and resolve minor on-site issues.
Basic computer literacy.
Ability to move freely and safely over rough ground and unsealed roadsides.
Complete physical labouring tasks involving gripping, bending, reaching, twisting, and lifting equipment or materials safely.
